was an endemic bird species specific to Kauai Island of the Hawaiian Islands. It was named after the island where it lived. The most distinctive features of the species were its long, fanlike tail, strong beak, and
bright yellow feathers on the legs of the males. Unfortunately, they no longer exist in our world as a result
of the destruction of their natural habitats.
